I am excited to follow up with you on my new venture: Migration Commons. I had told you that Migration Commons is a new voice in migration, powered by experts. We aim to amplify the voice of experts, through the medium of media dockets, offering learned and informed perspectives on current issues on migration.
Today I am here to tell you that Migration Commons also features a LinkedIn Group, an accessible space for everyone interested in understanding human migration. We will bring experts in conversation with an informed audience, students, researchers, professionals and migrants, to discuss the most pressing issues on migration and displacement. We promote information exchange and dialogue, knowledge creation and dissemination around the topical issues in human migration.
Migration Commons is a labour of love. I have been a migrant. My infant son was ‘made’ a migrant in the UK, although he never crossed borders till he turned two. Migration, I believe, unites us all. However, the governments and media control the topic. I am passionate to open up the discussions around migration, amplifying the voices of experts who have dedicated their careers to understanding the workings of international migration, policy-making and governance.
